Pablo Mazzolo
The films of Pablo Mazzolo use the documentary method to cross the edges between the real and the dream. His films explore the specificity of film as a medium, to construct formal paradigms, where the kinetic image and sound constitute the same perceptive and different unit in each work.
Pablo Mazzolo (1976, Buenos Aires, Arg) currently lives and works in Buenos Aires. He studied Image and Sound Design at Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU). His films explore the edges between the subject and the real, through the filmic medium. His films have been exhibited in different museums, galleries and festivals such as the New York Film Festival: Views from the Avant Garde (USA), Rotterdam Film Festival (Holland), Ann Arbor Film Festival (USA), Edinburgh Film Festival (UK), Rancontres du Cinèma a París (France), Viennale (Austria), Videoex (Switzerland), Media City Film Festival (Canada), Chicago Underground Film Festival (USA), La Mostra (S8), Bafici (Arg), Mar del Plata Film Festival(Arg), Experimental India (India), Exis (Korea), L ́age de Or (Belgium), Oberhausen Film Festival (Germany), Hamburgo (Germany), Melbourn (Australia) among others. He has also been invited to participate in various screenings at museums and universities such as MassArt University (Boston, USA), FAMU (Prague, Cz), Xcentric (Barcelona), Schule F Kubelka (Austria), Kinecko (Bratislava), and has performed live cinema in PAF Festival (Olomuc, Cz), La Semana del Film Experimental (La Plata, Arg), MAMBA (BsAs, Arg), UNLP (La Plata, Arg) , FADU (BsAs, Arg), UNAM (México), HFBK University (Hamburg), Museo Rufino Tamayo (Mexico), among others. Fish Point (2016), won the Cinematic Award at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. His project, Máquina de Luz (2015) won the grant from the Culture Development Fund (Fondo de desarrollo de Cultura). Conjectures (2013) won the first prize at the Media City (Canada). Oaxaca Tohoku (2012) won the BAFICI Metropolitan Arts Fund award (Fondo Metropolitano de las Artes del BAFICI) and was awarded by the BIM (Biennale de Imagen en Movimiento). His script AM1019 participated in the Oaxaca Screenwriter Lab 2011 (Sundance Film Institute). He has made documentaries for Italian (RAI) and Argentine (Encuentro) television.
He currently works as a filmmaker, mountaineer, and teacher.
